Top Cat Creations, LLC was founded by me based on my expertise and enjoyment of personalizing assorted cards, event programs, and obituaries. I started my typing skills in the U.S. Government in the mid-1970s when the typewriter and “mag card” were the mechanisms used to get print on paper. Being the youngest, I was asked to do the paperwork or writing, in short, I became the “secretary” for the family which enabled me to enhance my imagination and skills in typing and formatting funeral programs for family and friends. Therefore, I was the go-to person when documents needed to be typed. As time grew, I was designing and customizing various print materials, including letters, cards, and obituaries. As the computer became more visible, my vision with designs took on a form of its own. Whenever there was a funeral not only within the family but extended to friends and associates of the family and friends, my help was requested. I loved to track and recognize birthdays. My mom would always tell me to write “Thank you” cards for the thoughtfulness that others showed us along the way for sad or happy times. The store brought cards just never seemed to capture what I wanted to say; therefore, I prepared my own cards with a personalized message.

When thoughts of retirement entered my mind, I knew other than my ushering I needed to do something else that I loved. It never occurred to me that something I had been doing all the time along with my ushering would become a service that I could provide and enjoy providing. Before retiring I started to seriously think about what I had learned and came to the realization that whatever I would devote my time to I would love doing it. I knew instantly that I was already doing what I love on a small scale. I already had most of the supplies and equipment to fulfill a professional business at home with the skillset and professionalism. Before becoming Top Cat Creations, I already had clientele, so why not provide my services on a professional level?
